About
Brazil's Federal Senate is the upper house of the National Congress and has 81 seats. When it was created under the Imperial Constitution in 1824, it was based on the British House of Lords. Since the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889 and the first republican Constitution, it has resembled the United States Senate. Its broadcasts can be watched on YouTube, and the Senate website at senado.gov.br gives more information.
